Pyramid Lake Gravel

42 mi | 1,628 ft | gravel

Description

This route is basically an out & back which is somewhat downhill first, finishing slightly uphill, which I’m not usually a fan of, but it’s not really noticeable and the views are pretty great both directions and the riding is relatively fast. This follows portions of the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail from Wadsworth to Pyramid but not exactly to avoid some goat head riddled sections. It features some great Nevada scenery and fun fast gravel.

NOTE: This route is on Tribal land so make sure to get a day pass here. Rangers come around and make routine checks. Make sure you chose your day and pay before entering the reservation.

highlights

  • Beautiful Nevada scenery
  • Lower elevation so rideable in the winter

lowlights

  • Not much climbing
  • Lots of goatheads if you venture off trail so tubeless tires recommended

verdict

  • Recommended if you’re ok with a flatter route
  • Intermediate
